“Karavasiles was selected from one of many artists who responded to the call for ideas when the Little Italy Association asked to participate in the program called Public Art Sites.”

::: About the Artist :::

Nina holds a BA from Montserrat College of Art Beverly, MA and a masters of fine art from the University of California. An accomplished artist she has had numerous commissions, solo exhibitions and in 2001 received commendations from Mayor Dick Murphy. You may learn more about Nina by visiting her website at: www.ninak.info

A panel of artists and community members chose three finalists of which Nina was one. They made the final decision and commissioned her to develop her design “Recipe for Friendship”. The art piece consists of ten sidewalk plaques and four cafe -like tables. The first sidewalk plaque is located at the corner of India Street into Amici Park. On each of the cafe tables in the park is a bronze sculpture - a plate of food with its recipe engraved on the napkin.

A visitor can bring a piece of paper and pencil and burnish the recipe to take home an authentic Italian recipe from the neighborhood!
